If anyone asks me (and sometimes they do) what is the best book I can recommend for low carb, keto or carnivore – and strength training – hands down, this is it. The foods we eat must be nutrient rich, yes! But also must be bio available. Won’t do us much good if there are anti nutrients blocking absorption. And how much protein do I need? How important is skeletal muscle mass? What about cholesterol? I listened to this book on Audible, but also bought the paperback. I need this book underlined and dog earred. I’ll be referring to it a lot. As one who is already reaping the benefits of much of what is written here (lowered blood pressure, off meds – lost anxiety, depression and joint pain along with 42 lbs), I say YES, this is a great book and explains all of the points made very well!!

This is a great introduction to a meat-based, high-protein, zero-carb eating plan. The authors provide a good mix of nutritional science (one of the authors is a licensed nutritionist), and practical ‘how to’ information for those ready to get started. To be fair, some of the information is anecdotal, based on the personal experience of the authors as well as other followers of the Carnivore diet, however, they let the reader know when the science on a particular topic is inconclusive. Overall an interesting read, and recommended for anyone considering a zero carb lifestyle.
